Book Review: Terminal Care by Christopher Stookey

Image
Title: Terminal Care Author: Christopher Stookey Publisher: Silver Leaf Books Published: June 1, 2010 ISBN: 978-1609750299 Summary: Phil Pescoe, the 37-year-old emergency physician at Deaconess Hospital in San Francisco, becomes alarmed by a dramatic increase in the number of deaths on the East Annex (the Alzheimer's Ward). The deaths coincide with the initiation of a new drug study on the annex where a team of neurologists have been administering "NAF"-an experimental and highly promising treatment for Alzheimer's disease-to half of the patients on the ward. This book has everything I love in a novel.  Mystery, suspense, medical drama, (my FAVORITE t.v. show is House!) well developed characters, and even some romance. Phil is one of those characters that will stop at nothing in order to do whats right and I love that.  He is suspended for supposed medical misconduct but he continues to investigate the unusual deaths in the East Annex.  He teams up with

Battleship Keychain Review

Image
Since Blake has started school he has always hung about 10 keychains on his backpack. So when I should him the Battleship Keychain that actually opens and you can play the game, he was stoked!!!!! I was a little skeptical.  A tiny keychain that opens and what has pieces? that you can play? Well I was pleasantly surprised when we received it.  It is bigger than I thought it would be and much sturdier.  "The Battleship key chain features a miniature reproduction of the game box that opens to reveal original game board graphics and removable game pieces for limited game play.  Officially licensed mini Battleship game comes with a sturdy metal key ring." It is easy to open and close.  The battleships are small but not totally tiny.  Each person gets 2 battleships.  It is just like the real game but in miniature.  I wish we had had this game when we drove cross country.  It would have kept Blake and Kayla occupied and quiet without having having to lug around a huge game.

Guest Post by Daisy Jordan!! Author of Love Means Zero.

In my first novel, Everything Happens for a Reason… , the main character, Jill, has a baby at age 21. The book tells the turbulent story of her pregnancy and her heart-wrenching relationship with the father. After that, because of feedback I got from readers who loved the characters, I went back and wrote about Jill and her friends in high school, in a 4-book series called Spin the Bottle that tells how Jill got to be where she is in Everything Happens for a Reason… . These books are full of excitement, drama, and the typical romantic suspense of high school. One of my biggest fears when I started writing Love Means Zero , which takes place 2 years after Everything Happens for a Reason… , was that readers would no longer find Jill’s life so fascinating. While Love Means Zero is mostly about Hilton, Jill still plays a large role as Hilton’s roommate and best friend, and I wanted to give her a significant side plot of her own for my readers who are true Jill fans. I knew they would w

Question of the Week: What birthday has hit you the hardest?  I think 25 was the hardest so far.  I turn 30 Jan 31, 2012 and that will be SO HARD so I am already making plans for a trip to Vegas with Hubby and all my friends.  I don't feel old enough to be 29 in January. So which Birthday has been your hardest??

Greatest Idea Ever!!!

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.  Hubby and I have been talking for a couple of weeks  that when I get my school refund (I get more grant $ then I have tuition) we should start a cafe/bakery.  I have loved baking since I was little.  I was never into cooking (until recently when with 5 kids it became a necessity) but I loved to bake. And Hubby has wanted to open his own restaurant since 2004.  So this would be a dream come true for the both of us. Well then I received an email from the financial aid office saying that since I have completed 100+ units, they were no longer giving me financial aid.  I freaked out!!  Not only could we not open the cafe but I would have to drop out a year away from graduation!! But I could appeal, so that what I did.  My counselor wrote a letter saying how close I am to graduation and I wrote one too.  I reminded them (in case they can't read my transcripts) that yes I transferred in with 64.5 units BUT I am actually only us
