Review/ Giveaway Me Time CD

PhotobucketAs a busy mom, wife, student I am usually a dollar short and a day late.  So I am little late starting on my New Year's Resolution but decided that with spring, I was going to make (and stick to) some resolutions.  One of my resolutions was to start getting up early and exercising, another was to start making time for me to be alone and plan my day.  So when I got the opportunity to try a cognitive meditation CD,by Suzanne Jessee, I thought that might be a positive thing to add to my spring resolutions.  The CD has meditation and imagery sessions for both day and night.  The day session helps to get you thinking about your day with a positive attitude.  It helps energize you and getting you feeling optimistic about the things you may encounter today.

The night session helps to quiet your mind and get you ready to sleep.  I always have a really hard time falling asleep because I sit and think about what I did that day and what I need to do the next day.  I found the night meditation really helps turn my brain off and help me get to sleep sooner.

Suzanne Jessee's website has clinical research that shows the benefits of meditation.  Suzanne also has a new CD coming out to help people with panic disorders and anxiety.

At first I thought it might be hard to make time (at least once but recommended 3 times) a day to do the meditation CD.  But I figured that I could combine both my resolution and that has worked perfectly.  I get up at 6:30 (everyone else gets up at 7 am) I spend the 15-20 minutes listening to the CD and then plan my day.  Then I get everyone up and ready for school.  Then after dropping the kids at school, DJ and I go walk 2 miles with little kids.  Then around 7 pm we go for a smaller walk around our neighborhood and then while DJ puts the kids to bed, I listen to the night session.

The first week was hard to get my schedule going but by the second week I was doing well.  I have been doing this routine for about 2 weeks now and I am very excited.  I feel better, more rested and calm with the kids.  I am now trying to get in an afternoon session on a regular basis.

And the best part is I get to give 1 lucky reader this CD!!!!

Review/ Giveaway Chunky Bling

I love jewelry!!  And one day while I was online surfing or "window shopping" I came across They have the cutest chunky jewelry!! Really pretty necklaces, watches, and necklaces.   And the Swarovski Crystal Rings are super cute!!  They are strung on a stretchy cord so that it is easy to slip on and off your finger and make them fit really comfy even if you are between sizes.  It was a tough choice between the crystal ring and the also super cute Swarovski Pearl Rings.  So I decided to let my 7 year old (who also loves jewelry..Don't know where she gets it from LOL) pick the ring she liked best.  She chose the light blue crystal ring. (It is the far left ring pictured).  I was really surprised because we got it in the mail really quickly and since we live in TN, sometimes mail takes forever.

The ring we received had been damaged in transit but I emailed customer service and they took care of it no questions asked.  I was really surprised and couldn't believe how helpful they were.  We got the new ring and it was perfect.  My daughter loves it!!  She is always asking for real jewels but this ring totally satisfied her request.  She has not taken it off since we got it.  I was worried that it might be fragile since it is beaded but it has held up to her play just fine.  Kayla will most likely be getting more jewelry from ChunkyBling in the future!

They are such a great company that they are offering one reader the Swarovski Crystal or Pearl ring of their choice.  And if you aren't lucky enough to win you can go to their website and enter the promo code Allis232 and you get 15% off your first order!!!   This discount is good until 4/13/2010.

Snorg Tees Review and Giveaway

I was so excited when I got home from school today and saw that the mail lady had brought my new shirt from Snorg Tees!!! Snorg Tees makes shirts and hoodies for men, women, and kids.  Plus if you have an idea for a design, they are always on the lookout for cute stuff.  This is the shirt I got, cute huh?  I ordered an XL cause most shirts I try on seem to have been made for a 10 year old boy not an adult woman.  But this tee fits great.  It is long but not to long (I'm too old and had to many kids for short shirts) and is the SOFTEST cotton.  They were very quick in sending it to me also.  I only ordered it Tuesday and got it today, Friday.  Plus this weekend they are having a huge sale with 20% off everything!!  Or you can enter my giveaway and hope you win one!!!

Thanks to Matt at Snorg Tees I am giving one reader the chance to pick any shirt!!!

Lip Stuff Review/ Giveaway!!!

I am so excited to review the lip balm from Lip Stuff!!  Just let me say that I LOVE lip products! When I opened the envelope I found my 3 lip balms in a cellophane bag tied with a pink ribbon.  How cute.  I had 3 flavors to try: Maple &Brown Sugar Oatmeal, Lemonade Ice Cream (limited edition Easter flavor), and Coconut Creme Pie.  My hubby, who uses Chapstick all the time (I know it's weird) tried the Lemonade and I went with Maple and Brown Sugar.  From their website:  "My Lip Stuff products are skin, earth, and animal friendly.  That means we NEVER test our products on animals and use only the finest ingredients that are skin safe and environmentally friendly."

They are more buttery then most chapsticks I have used and I love that!  They are also longlasting and really make you lips "kissablely soft."  The lemonade is a very mild scent and flavor which my hubby liked.  The Maple smells just like real syrup, I kept thinking someone was eating waffles cause I could smell my Lipstuff!  LOL.  The coconut one (to me) smells like suntan lotion and so I immediatley wish it were summer.  I really like it. (My hubby didn't try it cause he doesn't like to eat real coconut?-I told him he wasn't supposed to eat it but he still wouldn't try).  All 3 flavors smell great great and work great.  I am already planning to order some as favors for Kayla's 7th birthday.  Another cool thing you can do is get customized and personalized labels.  They can say Kayla's Lip Stuff or you can choose a birthday cake background.  So many ways to make them your own. And with 500 flavors you will never get bored with your lipstuff again.

They are so awesome at LipStuff in fact that they gave me a 6 pack assortment to giveaway to one reader!!!

How To Enter:

Mandatory Entry:

1. Go to Lip Stuff and check out some of their 500 flavors. Leave me a comment with your fav and your email address. (I will notify the winner by email.  They will then have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be choosen.)

Charm Factory Review and Giveaway

I LOVE getting mail!  So today when I got home and found a package from Charm Factory, I was thrilled.  I have loved charm bracelets since I was little.  But all the ones I have found are cheaply made and look like they would last about 10 minutes before falling apart.  Then I found Charm Factory!

They sell charm bracelets and individual charms.  They have a million (or so it seems) charms to choose from. Pets, Food, Friendship, Awareness, Enamel (for a little color), Charms with cystals...The list goes on and on.  Or if you get a little freaked out by too many choices you can pick a finished charm bracelet.  Each finished bracelet has a unique theme.  I received the Silver Star bracelet.
How cute is this bracelet??  I love statrs so this choice was a no brainer for me. I immediately put it on and was amazed at how delicate it looks but it is really strong.  I love that none of the charms or links in the bracelet has edges that get caught in clothing.  I have it on my right wrist and I can write, type, cook, and it doesn't get in the way.  I have small They also have the cutest Holiday charms so a bracelet would be a perfect gift for any holiday.  They have the cutest ones for Easter, I think the Easter Bunny may bring one (or 3) to my daughter!   Now for the best part!!!!
Charm Factory gave me one finished bracelet to giveaway!!!!
How To Enter:

Mandatory Entry:
1. Go to Charm Factory and pick which finished charm bracelet you would pick if you won.  Leave me a comment with your fav and your email address.  (I will notify the winner by email. They will then have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be choosen.)

Great New Site!!

I just discovered a site that makes the cutest shirts for girls!! Pigtail Pals!  I love it.  They inspire girls to wear not just pink but all colors.  And they are inspiring girls to break gender stereotypes and to truly be whatever they want to be.  Here is a blurb from their mission statement.
"I think our girls deserve more. I think they deserve better.  Redefine Girly means that our girls will show the world they aren't just sassy princesses or spoiled brats. Our girls will show the world they have the potential to grow up to be more than a drama queen or pop star. Redefine Girly means we can expect the same things for our daughters, from our daughters, as we do our sons."

Here are a few of my favorite ones.

Not only do they make a super cute shirt it is an awesome way to impower young girls.  I think I found Kayla's birthday present.  Now comes the hard part...Which one do I buy for her??

Dear Kid Saturday

Dear Cody,
Maybe if you let us watch something other than Scooby Doo (the snowy one) then we would be more open to the possiblity of watching it.  However, the other kids and I may go crazy if you make us watch it again today.  Once a day is too much let alone twice.  How about once a week?  No deal?  Ok how about every other day and you can watch Scooby Doo (zombies!!) on the other days?  Whattya say is it a deal?  Great.
Also while we are on the subject of movies, if you get up and leave the room I am going to turn it off.  What do you mean no?  Ok how about if you are gone for longer than 5 minute?  Ok 10 minutes and thats my final offer.  Great.  Now if you don't stop standing in front of the DVD player we will be watching NOTHING cause your big butt blocks the remote sensor.

Potty Training 101

Since Cody is 28 months old and I am on Spring Break this week, I decided now would be a great time to start potty training.  Yesterday afternoon I let Cody pick a pair of underwear that he wanted to put on.  He went with a very stylish pair of Spiderman undies.  I set the timer for 15 minutes and tell him when it goes off  "It's POTTY TIME!!" He looks at me and says..."NO."

Fast forward 15 minutes.  Timer goes off and we all yell "POTTY TIME!!" "WOOHOO" etc.  I manage to wrestle, cajol, and bribe Cody onto the potty seat on the toilet.  We read 2 books (no trashy magazines or newspapers in our bathroom!) and no pee. So we get down, wash our hands and re-set the timer for another 15 minutes.  Fast forward another 15 minutes.  Same story BUT different ending.  CODY PEED ON THE POTTY!!!!  Yay! So he got 4 M&M's and we re-set the timer. After 15 minutes, he says "I don't gotta pee."  Ok fine.  !5 minutes later same thing so I  say ok but next POTTY TIME!! you have to try.

8.3 seconds later Kayla yells that she thinks Cody wet his underwear.  Yep he did.  So I offer him new underwear and he refuses. Flat out.  Not going to happen. So I put him in a diaper and tell him that when he wakes up tomorrow we will try again.

Today I put him in underwear.  30 minutes into our day he pees!  WOOHOO!  Yay!  Then I took a phone call, so Nana (aka my mom) watches him.  Mind you, I am using the term "watching" very loosely. 8 minutes later he pees somewhere. No one knows where but his undies are wet.  So I put him on the potty and nothing.   Clean underwear and re-set the alarm.  A couple of minutes later I notice that he has disapeared into his room. As soon as I walk in the door, I see the bulge by his butt.  Are you kidding me?? So I ask him did you ppo in your underwear.  No Mom. After that I put him back in a diaper and decided to wait some a little longer before potty training.

I called DJ (since he is on his way home from Tahoe) and told him about our morning.  This is our conversation:
Me: Cody peed on the potty.
DJ:  Great.
Me: Cody peed in his underwear.
DJ: Not so great.
Me: Cody pooped in his underwear.
DJ: Even less not so great.

WOW!! That was insightful.

So what have we learned from this tale?

* Always wait until YOUR child is ready to potty train before trying.  Saves everyone a lot of frustration.
* Don't let a child in underwear out of your sight.
* If  you go with the timer method actually put your child on the potty EVERY time it goes off.
* Men (at least all the men I know) know nothing about potty training. ;)
The funny thing is you'd think I would know these rules since I have potty trained 2 boys and 1 girl.  But no.  I guess since Jacob was so easy that I thought Cody would be the smae way. So I guess that is another lesson learned.
* All children are different and learn at different rates.

Happy Birthday Jacob!

My middle son turned 4 today!!!!  Since DJ is out of town (snowboarding in Tahoe) we did dinner and pie (his choice).  He opened a small present from us and presents from family.  He recieved a new jacket from an uncle, from my mom he got the Chipminks Beanie Babies and the Soundtrack from The Squeakuel.  We got him a puzzle and a 3 train Thomas set.  And DJ's parents sent him some candy and $20 which he can't wait to go and spend!  LOL

Normally when the kids have a birthday I bake cupcakes for them to take to school.  But Jake is in a special Early Intervention class so they only go to school from 8-11 am.  So I saw these White Chocolate Popcorn Treats on My Little World and thought they looked awesome so I decided to make them for Jacob to take to school tomorrow.  Here are her directions:

"Pop some popcorn. Melt a bag of white chocolate in the microwave and pour it on top of the popcorn. Add the Valentine's M&M's to it and mix it. Let it cool and harden." Since I don't have an air popper for popcorn (and would probably set my house on fire if I tried to pop popcorn in a pan) I microwaved a bag of Kettle Corn Popcorn. -I figured Movie Theater Buter might be kind of gross. I used white chocolate chips and regular M&M's.  They taste amazing and they are bright and colorful thanks to the M&M's.  Here they are on the tray hardening.  I put them in little goodie bags with ribbon and a tag for each child!!

Really? How is that possible?

So we bought a new TV and blu-ray DVD player the other day so DJ had to re-program our Dish Network remote to control  both.  Well earlier I went to turn the TV off using the remote and it turned on my Ipod on its docking station. WTH? So not only did the Ipod turn on the TV didn't turn off (When I hit it again the TV finally turned off).  The worst part is DJ doesn't know how that could have happened so he can't fix it. So randomly-it doesn't happen all the time-the TV remote controls my Ipod. Strange...
